VAM1202/12 Straight Tube CD Mechanism Complete Traverse Unit VAM1201 CDM12.1

Replacement VAM1202/12 complete traverse mechanism for CD player repairs. This complete mechanism will replace the defective VAM1202/12 mechanism in your CD player.

The VAM1202/12 is the superseded version of the VAM1201 and CDM12.1 which you may find fitted.

This is the straight laser tube version of the mechanism. The laser pins are arranged in a straight vertical pattern so please check your version before ordering. The other version of this mechanism has a round laser tube end with a circular laser pin pattern.

To replace the traverse mechanism it is necessary to remove it from the old loader by unsoldering the connections to the spindle motor, sled motor and limit switch.

This is only to attempted by those competent in the repair of electronic equipment. Please also note the traverse mechanism is fitted with static discharge protection by way of the copper strip fitted to the end of the flexible strip. Remove this after the mechanism has been fitted.

This mechanism has quite a high failure rate normally causing failure to read discs and can be intermittent. You may find this item fitted to Philips and Marantz CD players though other manufacturers have used it.
