Flexible Connection Strip 16 Way Laser KSS213 KSS213C

This flexible connection strip is suitable for connection from the laser unit to the main CD circuit board. It is recommended that this cable is replaced along with the laser to maintain long term reliability. This cable is specially designed to maintain electrical contact to all pins of the laser assembly whilst it is in motion. The laser during its normal course of operation has to move from the centre to the edge of the disc as controlled by the tracking mechanism. 

Failure of this cable can cause various malfunctions but the most common is failure of the laser to illuminate leading to focus failure and no recognition of a disk being present. As the cable may fail only when stretched in a certain direction it can lead to failure to read tracks at one end of the disc, this can be an intermittent problem. If you have purchased a laser assemby or a complete KSM213CCM mechanism then you can order this cable for a zero postage charge. This cable is also suitable for use with the 16 pin SFP101N laser / mechanism.This cable specifications are as follows:

This cable is used in our workshop for our own repairs. The cable length is normally not critical. If your cable is shorter then in most cases this one can still be used. The extra length sometimes causes no issues or you can make a straight fold along its length, this is often done by manufacturers anyway. It is usually always replaced when we change a laser assembly. This ensures an effective and long lasting repair.
