Description

High quality replacement type 15A fuse for modern microwave ovens. This type of fuse is commonly found in many brands of microwave ovens. It is normally used as the mains input fuse and is designed to fail if there is a fault.

Such a fault could be a short circuit magnetron or a short circuit high voltage rectifier. In our experience however this fuse commonly fails for no apparent reason. The fuse just gets stressed everytime the magnetron starts which eventually leads to the demise of the fuse.\n\nIf you have a microwave with this type of fuse then the symptom you will get if it has failed is generally a completely dead machine.

Sometimes however you may get a no cooking action fault depending on what part of the circuit the fuse is fitted. \n\nThis particular type of fuse is sand filled and is not clear glass like other fuses. It is important to replace a fuse in a microwave with this type as it will not explode in the event of a fault.

This fuse is also designed to withstand the high surge currect that flows when a microwave is started. In order to check the fuse you need to use an ohm meter or a continuity tester. A zero ohm reading will be obtained for a working fuse. If you fit a new fuse and it fails immediately then you have another fault and you should consult a microwave engineer.

If you require a microwave fuse then carefully check the fuse value by looking at the tip of the fuse. The current rating is printed on one of the silver caps. The fuse value should also be printed on the circuit board beside the fuse holders. Also measure the fuse length. 20mm and 32mm are the common lengths. In our microwave parts section you will find the most common types listed.

This is the technical specification of the fuse:

  • Current rating: 15A
  • Overall length of fuse 32mm
  • Fuse type: Delay / Antisurge
  • Fuse Dimensions: 32mm x 6mm
  • Fuse Material: Ceramic

This type of fuse is fitted to many brands of microwaves and this particular type of fuse is suitable for replacement in any brand.
